Jake and Liberty had a difficult few days in the villa, after the Birmingham beauty started to feel as though her boyfriend was not as interested in her as she previously believed.
And it all came to an emotional climax when the couple went on their final villa date last night on a yacht.
However, one particularly observant viewer noted a similarity in the events to follow after their outing.
On Twitter, the fan wrote: ‘You know the relationship isn’t going to work when they put you on a boat #LoveIsland.’ [sic]
Alongside was pictures of three other pairings who all called time on their relationships in the weeks and months to follow.
Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson, 2019 winner Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea – as well as Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood were all sent on yacht dates whilst in the villa.
However, all the couples have long since split-up, with Jake and Liberty doing the same last night.
Other Twitter users also picked up on the coincidence during last night’s instalment.

One shared: ‘No WAY did they get them the yacht they spoke about for their date? this is sabotage #loveIsland.’
‘Jake and Lib going home tonight after the date on the yacht of course #loveisland2021,’ wrote another.
A third commented: ‘Funny seeing Liberty and Jake on a yacht because that relationship has sailed. #LoveIslandUK #jakeandliberty.’
When the pair returned to join their fellow islanders last night, they revealed they would both be leaving the show.
It came as a surprise to many, as the final is just days away from being aired.
After her exit, Liberty spoke out on what the turning point was in her relationship with Jake.
She said: ‘The clips hurt me, what was said, and I sort of swept it under the carpet and didn’t address it properly and one thing led to another, where it just became a bigger issue,’ she told The Sun.
And then we found out there were differences between us in how we see things and communicated about things. We just weren’t communicating in the same way we used to.
‘I was in love with Jake. And, of course, I still love and care for Jake. You don’t end things then just get over someone like that. But I think, in the long run, I made the right decision. You have to put your own feelings first and to make yourself happy. And that is what I have done.’
Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
