Love Island fans were pretty taken aback after witnessing new bombshell Afia Tonkmor’s brutal swipe about Gemma Owen’s age.

While Afia and Turkish actress Ekin-Su walked into the villa and made quite the impression with the boys, after both dating Liam Llewellyn earlier in the evening, the girls in the villa weren’t too happy with the new islanders.

19-year-old Gemma, the daughter of ex footballer Michael Owen, was particularly annoyed, after Ekin-Su ‘patronised’ her by calling her a ‘little sister’, and Afia didn’t hold back in making a savage dig behind Gemma’s back about her age too.

With Ekin-Su setting her sights on Davide Sanclimenti, who is coupled up with Gemma, the actress asked Afia: ‘Do you think he likes Gemma?’

Afia replied: ‘Not going to lie, I don’t think an 18-year-old is your competition.’

It’s safe to say fans were stunned by the comment.

One wrote: ‘I don’t think an 18 year old is your competition, Afia woke up and chose violence #LoveIsland.’

Another penned: ‘Not 18! Afia said we rounding down,’ while a third shared: ‘Afia!! “I don’t think an 18 year old is competition” I AM DEAD.’

Meanwhile, Ekin-Su was not scared to step on the other girls’ toes, after she made her intentions pretty clear, saying: ‘I’m not here to make seasonal girlfriends. I’m here to make the love of my life.’

Fans were loving the new arrival, as they already thanked her for bringing a much-needed dose of drama.

One wrote on Twitter: ‘Ekin-Su is genuinely all-timer contestant potential, I’m so so for this, this cast needed genuine drama they’re all so boring.’

‘Ekin-Su is giving us entertainment so I don’t even care she’s a pick me #LoveIsland,’ a fan commented.

‘Ekin-Su lowkey unhinged… love her #LoveIsland,’ someone else said.

Former show favourite Shaughna ‘congrats hun’ Phillips said: ‘Ekin-Su is not a bombshell, she’s a weapon of mass destruction at this point because all I see is carnage. I love her. #LoveIsland.’

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
