In early August, four islanders were savagely sent home from Love Island at once, with the contestants choosing to save Tyler Cruickshank and Mary Bedford.
Being one of the four people dumped meant that Hugo missed out on the chance to partake in the talent show a couple of weeks later, which saw Millie Court play the keyboard piano so romantically that it prompted Liam Reardon to drop the L-bomb.
In a new reel shared on Instagram, Hugo, 24, explained that he would have sung Yellow by Coldplay if he had still been on the show at the time.
However, the PE teacher went one step further, sharing a clip of himself singing the tune spliced with someone else also singing the ballad, harmonising with the other singer as he demonstrated how passionate his performance would have been.
‘Not quite Liam’s vocals or Mils on the piano. Used to love a good sing song,’ he wrote in the caption.
Several Instagram users appeared impressed with Hugo’s vocals, with one commenting: ‘Where was you hiding. The vocals,’ alongside two fire emojis.
‘Okay hugo with them vocals,’ another said, while someone else said that he had the ‘voice of an angel’.
At the time, Hugo stated that the scene was cut to ‘protect’ Liberty and Jake’s relationship.
However, he later explained that their exchange happened over a month ago, before Liberty also poured cold water on any speculation that there was an attraction between her and Hugo.
‘This intimate chat. It was just literally me and Hugo sat down like, “What do you do with yourself?” Blah blah blah,’ Liberty said during an Instagram Q&A.
‘It was very just friends, there was no sexual chemistry between us and I love Hugo as a mate but that’s all the chat was.’
Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
