Kaz and Tyler, both 26, were the only couple not called up to the sofa to be interviewed by Laura Whitmore when the reunion episode aired in September.
It sparked major backlash towards the programme with many questioning why the only Black couple on the series didn’t receive the same treatment as their fellow islanders.
In her latest YouTube videos, Kaz answered burning questions from fans, which of course included why she and Tyler were so notably snubbed.
The fashion influencer explained: ‘This question I got asked a lot. With the reunion, we weren’t actually asked to go onto the sofa, we were told we would be interviewed from the table, which we were fine with as well.
‘So that is a question for somebody else, not me.’
At the time, presenter Laura revealed that Kaz was invited up to the sofa to take part in a segment with Toby Aromolaran who she was briefly coupled up with, but the islander has now said she wasn’t told what she’d be discussing on-stage.
Kaz continued: ‘Halfway through the reunion, they did try and get me to go up onto the sofa.
‘At that time, I didn’t actually know why I was being asked to go to the sofa but I just said no because I was told that I didn’t need to leave my table and I also didn’t understand why I’d need to go onto the sofa for anything else when I hadn’t gone up there with Tyler to talk about our journey.
‘I don’t actually know the real reason why I wasn’t asked up there.’
Viewers were furious over Kyler snub, with one commenting as the reunion aired last month: ‘So all finalists Millie Liam, Toby Chloe, Faye and Teddy are on the main sofa but not Kaz and Tyler? Yh see you lot at ITV studios tonight, I’ve had enough.’ ‘Why were Kaz and Tyler not on the sofa but everyone els [sic] was even Liberty and she is not even in a relationship!!!’ one fumed.
Sharing a similar sentiment, another said: ‘Please tell me why the FINALISTS Kaz and Tyler didn’t get time on the sofa but Lib (who I love) on her own was given time on the sofa WITHOUT Jake. @itv2 can you not see the issue?!?!’
Laura later addressed the controversy in her Instagram stories after some of the criticism was targeted at her, and wrote: ‘Hundreds of people work on Love Island. My job is not to organise seating arrangements.
‘I barely know what seat I’m sitting in before the show as set changes so much.
‘We invited Kaz to sit with Toby for his exes segment but she didn’t want to and it’s her choice to make.
‘Everything is run through with the islanders before hand. It’s all about choice!’
Love Island is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
