Love Island Curtis Pritchard has apologised to anyone offended by his jokes during an appearance on Channel 4’s Stand Up & Deliver.
The 25-year-old joined the likes of Reverend Richard Coles and Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder to try performing a stand-up routine, with the help of some celebrity comics including Jason Manford and Loose Women’s Judi Love.
Few comics have fallen quite as flat as Curtis, however, who was torn apart by both viewers and the stars of Gogglebox.
Speaking on his podcast AJ vs Curtis, the reality star said: ‘I know that we normally do the questions from you guys here but just before we move on, I just want to quickly say I recently took part in the Stand Up To Cancer initiative with Channel 4 where I was challenged to become a stand-up comedian.
‘I just want to apologise because I know that everyone that listens to this, you always support me and give me the utmost respect and thank you so much for that but I just want to apologise to anybody that I have offended.
‘Some of the jokes, they were completely off track and went too far and I didn’t realise that at the time but I realise it now and I just want to apologise to everybody and anybody that I have offended.
‘It was never intentional at all, it really wasn’t. It was a great show to be a part of and I was very fortunate to be able to take part but I just want to apologise and say I am sorry for the jokes.’
During the programme, which aired to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer, Curtis was booed by audience members after making jokes about having sex with girls on Love Island.
His mentor Judi held her head in her hands as he included one particularly agonising joke which she asked him to drop.
‘I had this great idea to go on to the biggest dating show on TV. I had the time of my life on there. It’s actually where I got compared to Usain Bolt,’ he said.
‘The only difference is, hang on when he finishes under ten seconds the crowd goes wild, when I finish under ten seconds she looks at me in disgust and says “is that all you’ve got?”‘
Pointing to a baffled audience member, he teased: ‘It happens to you too, doesn’t it? ‘Don’t worry about it, there is a little blue pill that will make you hard for hours, I promise you.’
Judi was backstage in disbelief.
‘I didn’t even know that he was going to do this joke, I told him to take this joke out,’ she said.
