As if we weren’t excited enough to watch Danny Boyle’s TV series about the Sex Pistols, Maisie Williams has shared some pretty iconic behind-the-scenes pictures to tide us over while we wait.

The 24-year-old looks worlds away from her Game of Thrones Arya Stark image as she’s starring as a punk icon Pamela Rooke – aka Jordan – in the Disney+ drama series, based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol.

In one selfie, she appears to be bleaching her facial hair after already dying her brunette locks to bright blonde, while in another she’s posing with a blue up-do.

The star also shared pictures of Beth Dillon, who will play Siouxsie Sioux, and Francesca Mills decked out in punk-rock glam, looking intensely at something over lunch, and a pic of Talulah Riley, who plays iconic designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, posing in a lift.

Taking to Instagram to share the behind-the-scenes snaps from filming, Maisie wrote: ‘@pistol comes out in 3 weeks and here are some of my favourite cursed photos from the shoot. enjoy.’

Fans will be pleased to know we don’t have long to wait to watch it, as the series is set to debut on Disney Plus in the UK and Ireland and Hulu in the US on May 31.

Even better, all six episodes will drop at once on the premiere date so you can binge the show to your heart’s content.

Maisie has been seen in character and also out and about with bleached eyebrows previously, as the real-life Jordan, who acted as consultant on the series, told Metro.co.uk that the star ‘felt liberated’ in the role while filming topless scenes.

The former Game of Thrones star has previously opened up about her decision to shun traditional beauty standards in favour of what suits her the most after ‘battling’ to conform.

Revealing that she received a lot more compliments once she started to channel her own style rather than what people expected her to be, Maisie explained: ‘For the longest time, I was battling with wanting to look traditionally like what people picture as beautiful and I was getting really lost in that.

‘Then, I cut my hair into a mullet and said, “Well, I’m not going to even try any more and I’m just gonna do something which I think really suits me and is still very different to everything I’ve been doing but feels right”’.

‘I was never getting the “Oh my gosh, she looks so beautiful” [comments] before, but certainly afterwards I was getting “Wow, that’s really cool,”’ she added to NET-A-PORTER’s digital title, PORTER.

Pistols promises to guide viewers ‘through a kaleidoscopic telling of three of the most epic, chaotic and mucus-spattered years in the history of music’.

1917 actor Anson Boon has been cast as Johnny Rotten, while Enola Holmes star Louis Partridge will portray bassist Sid Vicious and Jacob Slater will star as drummer Paul Cook.

Sydney Chandler will become Pretenders star Chrissie Hynde, who had an affair with Steve at the height of the Sex Pistols’ fame.

Meanwhile, The Witcher’s Emma Appleton will play Nancy Spungen, the American girlfriend of Sid, who died in mysterious circumstances in October 1978.

Pistol also promises to cover in great detail the antics and anarchy of a band who shook the establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever.

Pistol premieres on Disney Plus on May 31.
