*Contains spoilers for season three of Marcella*
Season three of Marcella is finally back on our screens and there have been so many twists and turns already.
During tonight’s double episodes, we saw the return of Marcella Backland (Anna Friel) but not quite as we know her.
After faking her own death Marcella finds herself in Ireland, but with a new persona of Keira, an undercover cop, who sets her sights on focusing upon the Maguire family’s criminal operations.
However, as she investigates their activities, questions start to arise about how much she’s embraced the Keira personality.
And, is Marcella gone for good?
Here are all the questions we have after episodes one and two.
Was Keira involved in her boyfriend’s death?
During the first episode, we are introduced to Marcella’s new persona Keira (this is going to get confusing) and her new boyfriend Lawrence Corrigan (Paul Kennedy).
The pair attend the McGuire family’s dinner party and everything seemed to be going well until Finn McGuire (Aaron McCusker) shot him dead.
It turns out her boyfriend was killed after he stole money from the McGuire family.
When the incident happened, Keira seemed completely emotionless and wasn’t shocked at all by her boyfriend being murdered, leading us to believe that she was in on it.
But, was she?
Who is Rory McGuire and why is he so secretive?
We don’t see much of Rory McGuire (Michael Colgan) in the first two episodes but we have a feeling he is going to play a big part in the series.
Rory is a recluse germaphobe, who is kept hidden away from the rest of the family, but he is always watching and spying…especially on Keira and Finn (who are now a couple).
With us so far?
Who is Keira’s blast from the past?
During the second episode, Keira ran into a blast from the past who recognised her as Marcella.
A man called Matthew stopped the detective in the street and called her Marcella Summers.
Who is this man and why is he calling her Marcella Summers?
Who left the note on Keira’s car and what does it mean?
A mystery person left a note on Keira’s car and she seems to think it’s Matthew, the man she bumped into in the street.
The note was a piece of sheet music which she later found out played a nursery rhyme.
At this stage, we are unsure what the rhyme means, but we are pretty sure it has something to do with Keira’s dead baby Juliette.
Will Marcella come face to face with Rav?
The last time Marcella saw Rav (Ray Panthaki) was when she tried to throw herself off a building.
After she confessed to her former colleague about what really happened to her daughter Juliette, Marcella attacked him and left him handcuffed to a toilet cubicle.
In series three, Rav is back and a murder investigation takes him to Ireland.
During episode two, Finn’s brother-in-law Bobby Barrett (Martin McCann) got himself into a bit of trouble after he murdered the son of a politician in a nightclub in London.
Despite Marcella helping him to cover his tracks, the police are still able to trace the murder to Bobby.
Rav went to the house Marcella (Keira) is staying at to speak with his suspect.
Neither of them were home, but it’s only a matter of time before Rav and Marcella come face to face…
Marcella returns next Tuesday at 9pm on ITV.
