Mark Wright reportedly bragged about predicting the winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020, supposedly encouraging his friends to place bets on Giovanna Fletcher at the very start of the competition.
During last night’s final of I’m A Celebrity, podcaster and author Giovanna was named the first ever Queen of the Castle, with radio DJ Jordan North coming in second and television presenter Vernon Kay finishing third.
Giovanna is the sister of reality star Mario Falcone, who years ago found himself in a love triangle with Mark as they competed for the affections of Lucy Mecklenburgh on The Only Way Is Essex.
Following the announcement of Giovanna’s win on I’m A Celeb, Mark purportedly shared a tweet where he said that he has correctly guessed the winner of the show ‘nearly every year’.
The tweet, which MailOnline screenshotted and claims has since been deleted, also included a screenshot of a conversation from a Whatsapp group Mark is in called ‘The Boys’, in which he told his friends to bet on Giovanna on November 15, when this year’s series launched.
In the screenshot, the tweet read: ‘So @imacelebrity launched Nov 15th. On that night at the start of the show, I told my mates the below…
‘I guess the winner nearly every year. If you want easy money next year, come to me. At one point she was 20/1. I still knew!! Well done to the deserved winner @MrsGiFletcher.’
In the screenshot of the Whatsapp conversation, Mark reportedly told his friends to bet on Giovanna as ‘she’s good odds’.
‘And I have no doubt in my whole life that she does win. 1000000 million percent she wins,’ the message said.
While the tweet is not currently available to view on Mark’s Twitter profile, he also shared a tweet congratulating Vernon on finishing in third place, which stated: ‘Well done @vernonkay mate. You absolutely smashed it!! Always knew you would.
‘The nice guys always shine in this show as there is nowhere to hide. You were YOU from the start to finish. Look forward to having a pint soon big man.’
Mark also liked a tweet posted by Giovanna’s brother Mario about his sister, which said: ‘Isn’t she just brilliant.’
In a statement sent to MailOnline from Mark’s representative, it said that the radio presenter ‘did not place any bets on Giovanna himself, only told his friends to do so’.
Mark came in second place during the eleventh series of I’m A Celebrity in 2011, with McFly musician Dougie Poynter winning the competition.
The 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity is available to watch on demand on ITV Player.
