Married At First Sight Australia: Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson have recorded series for son to watch

Married At First Sight Australia’s success story Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson have made sure to record the series that saw them fall in love, so that their son can watch it back when he’s older.

Season six of MAFS Australia saw cricketer Cam and Jules, who previously lived in London and worked as make-up artist, tie the knot the very first day they met.

The show originally aired down under in 2019, but only just hit British screens last month and had UK fans hooked as couples blindly wed and navigated their way through an eight-week experiment – only to come up against bucket loads of drama, cheating scandals and fiery feuds.

While we had the likes of Jessika Power and Dan Webb getting together behind their partner’s backs and secretly plotting to stay in their experiment as a new couple, we also had Cam and Jules who, despite all the drama, fell head over heels in love.

So much so, that they officially became engaged as the series came to a close and they tied the knot a year on from getting married on camera (the weddings on the show aren’t legally legit), before welcoming their first child – a son called Oliver.

It’s definitely not the norm for kids to be able to go back and watch their parents fall in love on a TV show, but Cam and Jules are all for Oliver one day seeing their journey play out and have actually recorded their season of MAFSA for him.

Asked if they’d be happy for Oliver to watch it back, Cam told The Times: ‘Absolutely! We’ve got it on hard drive for him.

‘How amazing to watch your parents fall in love,’ he said – although, he did address the fact the show might not be exactly PG 13.

Granted Cam and Jules managed to keep it together throughout the experiment and barely argued, but in between their fairytale experience, there’s steamy hook-ups (Matt Bennett even lost his virginity on the show), not one, but two cheating scandals after Jess and Dan took lead from Ines Basic and Sam Ball to strike up an affair, and probably more expletive-riddled rows than soppy declarations of love.

‘Maybe there are a few bits he should skip through,’ Cam admitted.

Despite going into the series with notably different ideas of who they wanted their partner to be – Jules ‘banged on about how I wanted this tall guy’, Cam is 5ft7, and Cam was after a ‘little blonde thing’, Jules is a redhead – the duo just clicked.

They wed officially in November 2019 in Sydney and Jules gave birth to their baby boy Oliver in October last year.

‘Surprise it’s a boy, healthy and beautiful and my heart is full,’ Jules told fans on social media, adding: ‘I would do it a thousand times again for you Oliver Chase Merchant. Our little man has arrived.’

While Married At First Sight Australia is currently airing its eighth season overseas, UK fans can expect to see season 7 drop on Channel 4 later this year.

Married At First Sight is available to watch via catch up on All 4.
