Married At First Sight Australia almost missed out on one of its biggest stars returning for an all-star reunion special.
The reality series, that sees couples wed on the very day they first meet, is a huge hit down under and over its seven series, there’s been more than a few memorable brides and grooms.
So much so, that Australian network Channel Nine has big plans for MAFS fans and has been filming an all-star reunion special with a slew of its biggest stars from over the years.
Ines Basic is arguably one of MAFS Australia’s most controversial stars to sign up to the experiment.
She featured on season six of the show – currently playing out on E4 in the UK – and brought plenty of drama with her, like her poor treatment of husband Bronson Norrish and then going behind his back and cheating with fellow castmate Sam Ball, who wed Elizabeth Sobinoff.
It’s no surprise then that Ines was on the list to appear in the all-star special, but fans almost had to without seeing her again, thanks to her flight being cancelled last minute.
According to Daily Mail Australia, Ines nearly didn’t make it to Sydney, where the reunion is being filmed, as she was left sitting at the airport in Brisbane for over five hours.
The publication claims Ines had no idea whether or not she’d make it to Sydney, as she couldn’t find out if her flight was going to be rescheduled.
Producers reportedly struggled to find her an alternative flight to Sydney and if she hadn’t managed to reschedule her flight by the morning, it would have caused a ‘major conflict’.
Luckily for Ines (and us fans), she managed to make it and joined the other MAFS stars for filming. They are currently staying at a hotel in the city and have filmed dinner party scenes at a warehouse nearby.
Joining Ines in the two-part reunion are her season six co-stars Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli, Jessika Power, Cyrelle Paule and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth will be joined by her now ex-boyfriend Seb Guilhaus, who she had married on her return to MAFS for season seven.
Season five stars Ryan Gallagher – who was famously cheated on by wife Davina Taylor with fellow groom Dean Wells – and Nasser Sultan have also been filming.
The all-star reunion is set to air over in Australia later this year.
For now, UK viewers are getting acquainted with all the drama from season six, which will see Ines cheekily slipping into Sam’s DMs and the pair betraying their partners.
Married At First Sight Australia continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on E4 and is available to watch via catch up on All 4.
