On Married at First Sight Australia, a couple was handed a surprise after discovering they were related on their wedding day.
The new season of the reality show premiered two weeks ago, and while there has already been plenty of turmoil, marrying a stranger became the least unpleasant aspect of their wedding.
Guests at voice over artist Ollie Skelton and PR Manager Tahnee Cook’s wedding began to recognise each other throughout their reception.
Tahnee’s brother-in-law turns out to be Ollie’s second cousin.
The insider who spilled the beans made it clear that, despite their close relationship, the newlyweds are not related by blood.
‘Technically, they are distant relatives in a weird way,’ the source told Yahoo! Lifestyle.
‘A lot of the cast would joke about it,’ they added.

However, it does not appear that this unusual scenario will be played out in front of the cameras.
‘They laughed about this a few times during filming, but it probably won’t be aired as Channel Nine won’t want people spinning it into an incest-style headline scandal,’ the insider said.
While some couples on the show are seeing cracks in their honeymoon phase, Ollie, 26, and Tahnee, 27, have rapidly become fan favourites.

The pair instantly clicked at the altar, bonding over Thai cuisine and their common hatred of internet dating, and subsequently, their utter lack of sports ability.
On their vacation in Fiji, the couple not only fell out of a hammock, but also struggled to stay on a paddle board and play tennis.
Tahnee also informed producers the day after their wedding that they had consummated their marriage the night before.
Married At First Sight Australia is currently airing on 9Now in Australia. UK viewers can watch previous series on demand via Channel 4.
