Married At First Sight UK star Amy Christophers has opened up about her first impressions of her fellow contestants, revealing that she warned Alexis Economou about her partner Jordon Mundell during the very first dinner party.
The new series of MAFS UK has been a huge rollercoaster on E4, as some couples who married at first sight found love while others struggled to forge a connection.
Amy, a 34-year-old sports journalist from Cornwall, was matched with 26-year-old insurance worker Josh Christie from West London, with the pair bonding on a deeper level on their luxurious honeymoon.
During a recent conversation with Metro.co.uk, Amy, who is a presenter for Racing TV’s #Raceday, looked back on what it was like during the first dinner party of the series, when all the women met the other men for the first time and vice versa.
Things became heated at the dinner table, as Nikita Jasmine – who has since left the show – became embroiled in an argument with Jordon after learning that he told Alexis on their honeymoon that he usually goes for women who are blonde.
Amy disclosed that if MAFS UK viewers look closely, they should be able to see her subtly telling Alexis what she thinks of Jordon on first impression.
‘In the first dinner party, if you lipread, you can see that I say to Alexis, “I don’t like him. I get a bad vibe from him”,’ Amy said.
‘I just didn’t like Jordon from the off, I just knew that there was something about him that was off.’
In the first commitment ceremony of the series, which aired last week, the other MAFS UK participants found out that Jordon and Megan Wolfe had shared a kiss behind their respective partners’ backs.
Megan had been struggling to find a spark with her partner Bob Voysey, becoming emotional at the dinner party after seeing how happy several of the other couples were.
Amy admitted that she thought Megan and Bob ‘would have hit it off’, so she was ‘surprised’ when things didn’t unfold between them as smoothly as she might have expected.
‘I get that she’s quite reserved and he’s not. I just thought that could have worked. It was a bit of a shame,’ she said.
When Jordon made the bombshell revelation about his and Megan’s kiss, Amy said that people checked on Megan, Bob and Alexis to see if they were ok as they’re ‘all like a close family’.
‘I didn’t check on Jordon though. He made his bed, he can lie in it,’ she added.
