It looks like Matt and Dan are sailing straight into a disaster in tonight’s Married At First Sight UK as neither want to move away from their hometowns.
The pair have fallen head over heels for each other since meeting for the first time at the altar, but there have always been underlying tensions about who will move away from their family so they can live happily ever after.
Dan hails from Northern Ireland and Matt is from Leeds, and neither has plans to up and leave anytime soon – and this all comes to a head in this evening’s episode.
‘For me, I don’t think I should move to Northern Ireland straight away,’ Matt says.
‘Realistically, I see us doing long-distance for three or four months,’ Dan replies. ‘I’d like to go between Leeds, Northern Ireland, and maybe someplace else, but in terms of settling down, at this moment in time I can’t see myself basing myself in Leeds.’
‘If I’m really honest, I did have in my head that I wanted to convince you to come to Leeds because my parents are there and I’ve got so many friends there,’ Matt responds. ‘That’s always going to be a massive part of my life.’
Realising that something has got to give, Dan suggests: ‘I think there needs to be a compromise then.
‘I love Leeds and I’d like to visit there, but I’m not sure I can see myself there on a full-term basis.’
Will these two be able to come to some sort of arrangement or will distance get the better of them? Only time will tell…
Elsewhere in tonight’s scenes, Franky offends Marilyse after stating his ideal match wouldn’t have children.
Marilyse is visibly upset by Franky’s remark and privately tells the camera: ‘To be honest with you, I was offended because I have got children and I don’t want that to be a problem.’
She adds: ‘I don’t like to waste time. Maybe we’re not meant to be. Maybe this isn’t right for me.’
Has Franky gone one step too far this time?
Married at First Sight UK airs Monday to Thursday nights at 9pm on E4. Catch up on the series so far on All 4.
