Married At First Sight UK star Franky Spencer has spoken out to stress that the real him isn’t being shown.
The fitness coach, whose boss exposed his relationship with his ex-wife, has been paired up with Marilyse with the pair first setting sights on each other at the altar.
Although the couple did have one argument, which left Marilyse ditching Franky and spending one night in a different apartment, they’ve been going from strength to strength, with Franky even dropping the L bomb in recent scenes.
However, some fans have branded the ex-army contestant ‘red flag Franky’, prompting him to break his silence on Instagram to address how he’s been portrayed on the E4 series.
‘I’m inundated with messages, WhatsApps, Insta DMs and Facebook DMs,’ Franky penned. ‘Everyone’s saying “What the hell’s going on? What the hell’s going on?”
‘I am not the guy who edits all the footage. I just don’t know what’s going on. It is what it is, you know. I’m thick-skinned.’
Franky, while not giving away spoilers, insisted there have been many sweet moments between him and Marilyse which haven’t yet made it to air.
‘During the experiment, there were a lot of amazing positives that went on between Marilyse and [himself], and that those experiences have not yet been shown,’ he added.
‘I’m not allowed to tell you where we’re at right now, and if we got through the experiment, but fun time Franky is obviously not being shown.’
Despite his hang-ups over the editing, Franky hopes that the show will soon show who he really is.
‘Bear with it,’ he concluded. ‘Maybe we get to see a Franky where he’s not goofy and negative and see the real me, I just don’t know.’
Franky isn’t the first Married At First Sight star to have their say on how the show is edited, with Megan also saying it’s ‘wild’ how much viewers don’t get to see.
‘I know it’s reality and I know it’s a TV show, but even me watching it back, it’s crazy how much relationship progression or regression you don’t get to see,’ she said in a video posted on Instagram.
‘You don’t get to see them breakdowns of relationships, you don’t get to see the progression either.’
Married At First Sight UK airs Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm on E4.
