Married At First Sight UK’s Franky has been criticised after scolding wife Marilyse for talking over him in front of the other contestants.
The couple got into their first public spat as they attended the latest dinner party in Monday’s episode of the E4 reality series.
Franky and Marilyse took turns to read out an anonymous letter written to them from one of the other couples, which pointed out the flaws in their marriage.
When they had finished, Franky had told Marilyse: ‘Maybe when I speak, don’t speak.’
A confused Marilyse asked: ‘What do you mean?’ to which Franky explained: ‘I was just saying something to them all.’
Marilyse hit back: ‘That’s not a nice thing to say.’
Realising that he had upset his spouse, Franky said: ‘I apologise.’
The experts applauded Marilyse’s reaction, with Mel Schillings stating: ‘She’s standing her ground, this is great to see. She’s actually ruined her back on him.’
Charlene Douglas noted: ‘She’s arrived at that point on her own,’ while Mel said Franky was hiding his face to talk to Marilyse because ‘he’s ashamed’.
Apologising again, Franky told his wife: ‘It was awful what I said so I’m saying sorry.’
Speaking to the camera, he said: ‘I’m a guy who’s used to hostile and hairy environments and I think tonight’s worse than what I’ve had to deal with.’
During a heart to heart with Megan, Marilyse worried how Franky would be on the outside and said: ‘Could you imagine if he spoke to me like that in front of my kids?’
Since filming ended, Franky has slammed the editing he’s received during the series, while his boss insisted he’s a ‘nice guy’.
Married At First Sight UK airs weeknights at 9pm on E4.
