Masked Singer UK: Is Mushroom Jane McDonald? All the clues pointing to Loose Women star

The Masked Singer UK has got everybody guessing after returning over recent weeks, and now fans think they’re spotted a vital clue to the secret identity of Mushroom.

In fact, social media users are convinced they’ve worked out that it’s singer and Loose Women star Jane McDonald after spotting one key piece of information.

They aren’t alone in thinking it’s Jane, either.

The mystery singer delivered a rendition of There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease, as well as giving away a few more hints on Saturday’s show.

Judge Davina McCall thought it could be singer and presenter Jane due to her strong northern accent and powerful vocals.

The VT on Saturday teased a jet setting lifestyle, heading to ‘exciting places far from home’, and Jane would fit as she’s presented plenty of travel shows in the past.

A reference to ‘chattering teeth’ also caught her attention.

Davina said: ‘I feel that that is a proper, northern accent. The chattering teeth immediately made me think of Loose Women, you know chatter.

‘I thought of Jane McDonald.’

However, fans online have taken it a step further after spotting a W in the VT, which they believe could be a reference to her hometown of Wakefield.

‘Mushroom is Jane Mcdonald, the W is for Wakefield where she’s from (sic),’ one wrote.

‘Mushroom is Jane McDonald? W for Wakefield, been all around the world… #TheMaskedSinger,’ another added.

Jane isn’t the only name in the frame for Mushroom, with other fans equally convinced that it’s Jane Horrocks.

Mushroom cryptically revealed that her career ‘started out a little bit fizzy’ on Saturday’s episode. Jane made her name playing Bubble in Absolutely Fabulous, which would be a perfect fit for the clue.

Several people also expressed their belief that it could be EastEnders star Shona McGarty under the mask – but she’s since denied it’s her under the mask.

Saturday, Will Young became the latest celebrity to be eliminated from the competition, being unmasked as Lionfish after landing in the bottom two with Firework.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
