On Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Matt Hancock is not in for an easy ride.
The 44-year-old disgraced MP, who stirred uproar with his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year, is due to appear on the Channel 4 reality programme, which promises to be a rigorous experience for the former Health Secretary.
Billy Billingham, the chief teacher, appeared on Monday’s episode of This Morning, and while he refused to discuss on prospective cast members for the future series, he did provide an intriguing reaction.
Billy just said, ‘Everybody in there gets beasted and made cry,’ when Andi Peters asked if Matt was in the upcoming season.
Presenter Andi instantly succumbed and said there would be no more concerns about celebrities becoming involved, but the former military officer insisted viewers would be happy with the gang of renowned trainees.
‘You won’t be disappointed, trust me. You don’t need to know. Watch it! Every time we do it, it gets better,’ he added. ‘We learn from our last one to make it better. The ones in there, people will want to see – and they’ll all cry.’
Billy also discussed the show’s attraction, emphasising the “personal experiences” that keep viewers coming back year after year.
And he stressed that the programme does not take a one-size-fits-all approach, with the goal of pushing each competitor to their own limit rather than challenging them to someone else’s.
‘We push every single one of them through their 100%,’ he added.
Hancock will resign as MP for West Suffolk at the next general election, and he previously stated that he was using his appearance on I’m A Celebrity to seek ‘forgiveness’ from the public for his handling of the pandemic and for breaking the very rules he set by having an affair with Gina Coladangelo while social distancing was still in place.
Despite receiving widespread criticism for his participation on I’m A Celebrity, he finally finished third.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returns to Channel 4 later this year.
