Matthew Wright’s crazed stalker threatened to steal his and his wife Amelia’s newborn baby in a horrific six-month ordeal.
The TV presenter and his partner joined Lorraine Kelly on today’s show where they recalled the harrowing incidents at the hands of Michelle Ranicar, 53, who plead guilty to one count of stalking to cause serious alarm or distress between November 2018 and May last year at Wood Green Crown Court.
The couple claimed that Ranicar wanted to take their miracle daughter Cassady during her final visit to their home, which left Amelia too scared to leave the house.
Baby Cassady was born in 2019 after eight challenging years of IVF.
‘The final visit is when we got the police involved,’ Matthew revealed. ‘She said things like, “I want to hold the baby, I want the baby”.’
Amelia continued: ‘Just after Cassidy had been born, she turned up at the doorstep. I was on my own the first time and she was trying to push her hand through the letterbox saying, “I want the baby, I want to hold the baby, give me the baby.”’
‘I didn’t want to go out the house because she said she wanted to snatch the baby,’ she added.
‘It absolutely takes over your life,’ Matthew said of their stalking hell.
A regular audience member for The Wright Stuff, Ranicar branded herself as a ‘super-fan’ of Matthew in an interview in 2016.
Sharing how she’s coping now, Amelia commented: ‘I hope help is given for this, but it’s left me emotionally scarred.’
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
