Mel B had Saturday Kitchen fans in hysterics with her crazy arrival.
This week’s show (April 13), hosted by Matt Tebbutt, included the Spice Girls icon as a celebrity guest, as well as chefs Big Has and Niklas Ekstedt and beverages expert Helen McGinn.
It all began with niceties as Matt relived the famed girl group’s debut 30 years ago and informed Mel, 48, that Mama was his favourite Spice Girls song.
By the conclusion of the show, the group had clearly become comfortable with one another, and the Wannabe singer had no issue expressing the chefs what she actually thought of their cuisine.
Mel wasn’t delighted with the stodgy carbonara – her culinary hell – which resulted in delightfully wild scenes.
After making vomiting sounds, the popstar asked Matt: ‘You see that has that tingy thing, what’s it called that thing that has that really bitter taste?’
‘Oh that’s fennel and chicory,’ Matt replied with Mel branding it ‘horrible.’
‘I just want some nice iceberg lettuce, keep it simple, with salad cream,’ she said perhaps getting relatably hangry.
Just before getting stuck into the plate, Mel stopped to ask: ‘Is there mushrooms in this? Shouldn’t there be mushrooms in a carbonara?’
Big Has informed her: ‘Only in a British carbonara,’ to which she shot back: ‘Well that’s where we are, we are in Britain.’
Spotting one more error, Mel pointed out: ‘You didn’t cut the fat off the bacon, look at that!’
The show ended with the singer appearing scared, spitting out her piece of carbonara, and switching plates with Helen.
‘Please cook me the beef now after we’re finished,’ she requested as the credits rolled.
Earlier in the episode, Mel sampled another dish with oyster sauce but she wasn’t a fan and told Matt: ‘You kind of ruined that,’ sending the group into fits of laughter.
Viewers were loving Mel’s brutal honesty, with @machelsea1976 tweeting: ‘Must say Mel B brightened up Saturday Kitchen today.’
@HashtagChambers agreed and wrote on X: ‘Mel B has f*****g KILLED ME on Saturday Kitchen.’
@GalwayGirlV wondered: ‘Have you watched Mel B on Saturday Kitchen? She was the best guest in years.’
Highlighting Mel’s risky choice of outfit, @iandavid_68 chimed in: ‘Can we all applaud MelB’s bravery for going on to a cookery programme wearing white.’
When Mel wasn’t causing mayhem in the kitchen, she was dropping further hints about a Spice Girls reunion this year for their 30th anniversary, and when questioned about Glastonbury, she said she’s ‘working on it.’
Mel has already made a sensation on television this month, when she shut down This Morning host Dermot O’Leary in a behind-the-scenes film.
Saturday Kitchen returns next Saturday at 10am on BBC One and is available to watch on iPlayer.
