Michelle Keegan has teased she could soon revive her character Georgie Lane in the BBC series Our Girl.
The Brassic star joined presenters Jermaine Jenas and Sam Quekon tonight’s episode on The One Show where she was quizzed on the chances viewers will ever see her reprise the role.
‘I always get asked this actually and, you know what? I’ll never say never,’ Michelle said.
Hinting at a potential comeback, she continued: ‘The door has been left open for her so, who knows, in a couple of years we might see Georgie again.’
Michelle hung up her army boots and left Our Girl last year, announcing that she was moving on to pastures new.
The most recent series marked her last hurrah (for now) after almost four years on-screen as the medic.
Speaking about saying goodbye to the series, Michelle told The Sun at the time: ‘Playing Georgie has been a life-changing role for me.
‘I’ve loved every second of the adventure so it was a very hard decision to make not to return.
‘I feel it is the right time to explore other exciting opportunities but I’m so happy to be part of the new series coming soon so it’s not the end just yet.’
Four months after Michelle confirmed her exit from Our Girl, the BBC later said the drama would not be returning for a series five.
Announcing the news, creator and writer Tony Grounds stated: ‘With the finale of series four showing Georgie ready to move on with her life, it feels like the right time for us to do the same.
‘Michelle and I are keen to continue our working relationship and, who knows, maybe we’ll catch up with Georgie in the future. I wanted to say a big thank you to the fans of the show, it’s been a joy to write.’
Piers Wenger, Controller Of BBC Drama, added: ‘We are very proud of Our Girl and would like to thank Tony Grounds, Michelle Keegan and the fantastic cast and crew for all their hard work on the show.’
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
