Millie Gibson has already secured her next major job before we’ve even watched her first complete season of Doctor Who.
The 19-year-old performer is undoubtedly in high demand right now, since she will feature in The Forsyte Saga in addition to the BBC sci-fi show.
The six-part series will be based on the same-named books by John Galsworthy, published between 1906 and 1921, and will follow the principal members of a big upper-middle-class English family. They are only a few generations removed from their farming forefathers, so they are aware that they are seen as ‘new money’, which motivates some of the plots.
In the previous 60 years, the stimuli have received the TV treatment twice. The conclusion of the BBC version, which premiered in 1967, was seen by 18 million people, while Damian Lewis and Gina McKee appeared on the ITV show in 2002. It was later turned into a film, That Forsyte Woman, in 1949.
Deadline announced that Debbie Horsfield, who wrote Poldark, will write the third TV adaptation, which will be a returning series.
PBS Masterpiece and ITV Studios’ Mammoth Screen are both behind the project.
Eleanor Tomlinson, who previously played the lead in Poldark, joins Millie in the strong cast. She eagerly announced the news on Instagram, along with a photo holding the novel. ‘Let’s go,’ Eleanor wrote. Francesca Annis (Dune, Lillie), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), and Jack Devenport (The Morning Show) also play major roles.
Millie will portray Joshua Orpin’s role Soames, the grandchild of the matriarch Ann (Francesca).
The series, which has yet to find a broadcaster, is a prequel to the events in the first novel.
While we wait for Millie to take on the job, we may witness her as the Time Lord’s companion.
Millie, a former Coronation Street actor, appeared as Ruby Sunday in Doctor Who’s Christmas special, and her first full series (number 14) will premiere later this month.
There was conjecture that Millie was dismissed from her position before the debut of another new companion, played by Andor actress Varadha Sethu.
Russell T Davies commented on the situation: ‘It’s tricky because you can’t answer online rumours. Sometimes they’re lies, sometimes they’re true. Sometimes they’re false, sometimes they’re just exaggerations.’
It’s been confirmed that Millie’s character Ruby will return for the 15th season of Doctor Who, alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Varada.
