Monsters, Inc sequel sneak peek teases new shenanigans with Mike and Sulley in Disney Plus TV series

A new sneak peek at the upcoming Monsters, Inc sequel series on Disney Plus has been released, showing what Mike and Sulley have been up to following the events of the original Pixar film.

It’s been 20 years since the release of Monsters, Inc, when viewers were first introduced to lovable monsters and best buds Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P Sullivan (John Goodman) as they grappled with a human child entering their world.

After realising that they can generate power in Monstropolis with children’s laughter rather than their screams, they set about changing how they operate – which is where we meet them in new show Monsters at Work.

In a new teaser released for the animated series, deadpan slug-like monster Roz (Bob Peterson) informs Mike and Sulley that they are now being put in charge, news that leaves Sulley utterly perplexed.

Mike, on the other hand, appears elated to have been given this immense responsibility, exclaiming: ‘It’s laughter we’re after!’

In addition to the dynamic duo, Monsters at Work will centre on a new character called Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman) who recently graduated from Monsters University as a Scare Major.

Tylor is dismayed to find out that the factory is no longer hiring scarers, considering this is what he had aspired to become.

He’s consequently enrolled in ‘MIFT’, aka the ‘Monster’s Inc Facilities Team’, which consists of a group of eccentric monsters whose job it is to work on any machines that require maintenance.

As can be expected, operations at the factory don’t run as smoothly as planned, with one clip in the teaser showing the scare floor in a state of disarray.

While Monsters at Work will be the first time that we see Mike and Sulley after the events of Monsters, Inc, the characters did make a return in the 2013 film Monsters University, which took viewers back to their college days.

Several original Monsters voice actors will be reprising their roles in Monsters at Work, including John, Billy, Bob, John Ratzenberger as Yeti and Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, Mike’s girlfriend.

Several Monsters, Inc fans expressed their excitement over the sequel series, with one stating that even though he’s a ‘grown a** man’ at the age of 25, he can’t wait to watch.

‘Been waiting for an actual continuation of Monsters inc instead of a prequel, so this is pretty cool,’ he tweeted.

Another wrote: ‘Gonna definitely watch this and also rewatch Monsters Inc. this weekend. Probably my favorite Disney Pixar animated movie.

‘This show is gonna be an awesome chill time revisiting that world with new characters.’

Monsters at Work is due to premier on Friday July 2 on Disney Plus.
