Nadia Almada, Big Brother star, has disclosed that she negotiated her own terms and conditions before entering the house.
On Friday’s Good Morning Britain, the 46-year-old, who is the reality show’s first and only trans winner, claimed she bargained with producers so she could construct her own story.
‘The one thing I’m happy of is that when I walked into Big Brother… I was the only one who negotiated my narrative and my story and how they [would be delivered] to the nation,’ Nadia, who was joined on the ITV programme by BB season one winner Craig Phillips, 51, added.
‘So the entire narrative of me, who I am, and my story was my terms and conditions for entering the programme. I was pretty much the only one that talked to Big Brother. I haven’t heard of anyone else doing it.
GMB anchor Kate Garraway, who was joined by co-host Ben Shephard, called Nadia’s move ‘strong.’
Nadia, who famously showered in heels on the show, continued: ‘I was not going to allow it to happen in a way that was beyond my story.’
The reality TV personality, who received 74% of the public vote and was a tremendous success with celebrities, like Adele, recently reminisced on her historic victory.
‘I didn’t know acceptance, or even tolerance was possible aside from through my closest friends. I had a complete absence of positivity and embracement in my life.’
An emotional Nadia told us: ‘When I got out of the show it was the complete opposite. I get goosebumps talking about it now because it was real.’
Let’s hope for another Nadia when Big Brother returns to our screens on Monday following a five-year break, with brand new presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best.
The show premiered on Channel 4 in 2000, then moved to Channel 5 in 2011, and finally ended in 2018.
ITV2 has already committed to two seasons of the ground-breaking reality show and has suggested that Celebrity Big Brother may return as well.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
