Naga Munchetty has said goodbye to her ‘partner in mischief’, after her BBC Breakfast co-star Ben Thompson announced he was leaving the programme.

The 46-year-old bid a touching farewell to reporter Ben, who is parting ways with the show having been a part of the presenting team since 2011.

‘I will miss you immensely on-air, But you’ll always be my partner in mischief x’ Naga wrote on Twitter, posting a series of snapshots of his time on air.

It comes after Ben, 40, told his followers he’d be ‘hanging up his hat’ earlier this week.

Ben joined the programme a decade ago and presents the business segments, as well as occasionally co-hosting the programme and reporting from many locations up and down the UK.

Paying tribute to his co-stars, including Naga, he wrote: ‘I’m hanging up my @BBCBreakfast hard hat and hi-vis in the New Year, so here’s a little thread of some of my ten years on the road, getting access to some of the most interesting and amazing businesses, and taking you with us.

‘Starting out was terrifying but I quickly learned that you’re in safe hands with the brilliant @BBCBreakfast team.

Discussing his time on the show, he said: ‘Thank you to our little Business team on BBC Breakfast.

‘They do all the hard work; planning, organising, fixing and producing the stories every day AND travel with us on the road. They make the early starts and long days much more bearable.’

It comes after BBC Breakfast host Naga revealed teenage-her would be horrified to see the current state of social media she’d later find herself becoming a target of.

Naga – who is part of the Beeb’s Breakfast show team as well as helms her own BBC 5 Live show – mused on how growing up as the daughter of an immigrant family shaped her work ethic and forged her desire to succeed.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
