NCIS star Sean Murray recalls his favourite moment on the show as drama hits 400 episodes

Sean Murray has recalled his favourite ever moment from crime drama NCIS, as the show reaches the 400 episodes mark.

The crime procedural returns for its 18th season on FOX TV UK this month, and the 43-year-old actor is back in the saddle as Special Agent Timothy McGee.

NCIS legend Sean has starred on the show since way back in 2003, and he’s now revealed the episode he’s enjoyed appearing in most as the incredible milestone approaches.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and another press, Sea said that his favourite moment came way back in season one – during the episode Dead Man Talking.

‘It was a stakeout episode,’ he said. ‘McGee was very still very part time at that point.’

As fans will remember, the episode picks up after the death of a NCIS officer, with the search for the killer leading to a stakeout.

The actor believes that the character development between Sean’s character and Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs was key to the future of the show and its success.

‘I think the heart of NCIS started to emerge in that episode,’ Sean said. ‘It felt like an episode of real growth. In the first few seasons of a show you’re trying to figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are. It’s always such a funny time when you’re figuring that stuff out.

‘But that stakeout episode, Dead Man Talking, I think of is a really important episode for us and a really good one too.’

With the 18th season of the show arriving in the UK very soon, Sean also spoke about the development of his character – and what fans can expect to see in the future.

‘There’s going to be more of the evolution of McGee, his growth and his relationship with Gibbs,’ Sean said.

‘I think we’re going to be seeing a lot of McGee leading, maybe more and more of a leader in McGee…

‘We get to see some of the family stuff I actually really enjoy too. When we get to see that side of me, I really like that. It’s a little different than what we normally do.’
