Netflix’s The Irregulars has been cancelled after just one season.

The news comes just over a month after the mystery adventure drama debuted its first season on March 26.

Set in Victorian London, The Irregulars follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes.

As the crimes take on a supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, it’ll be up to the Irregulars to come together to save not only London but the entire world.

The eight-part show was written by Tom Bidwell and starred Thaddea Graham as Bea, the leader of the Irregulars.

McKell David , Harrison Osterfield, Jojo Macari, and Darci Shaw were also in the main cast as the titular gang, with Royce Pierreson playing Watson and Henry Lloyd-Hughes playing Sherlock Holmes.

Thaddea said she was ‘heartbroken’ by the drama’s cancellation in a statement shared on her Instagram Story.

‘SO grateful to the entire team behind The Irregulars who showed up every day and grafted for over a year, pouring everything they had into making the show,’ she penned.

‘The theme of found family truly lifted off our pages + became a reality. I’m sorry we’re not heading back to Baker Street.’

She continued: ‘Thank you everyone who has tuned in and engaged. It means the world.’

Thaddea added that she was told the news a week ago and cried to her agent for 40 minutes.

‘We can grieve together,’ she said.

Unsurprisingly, fans are hugely disappointed by the show’s axe and flooded social media with their upset.

Blasting Netflix for the move, one person wrote: ‘Bring the Irregulars back for a season 2 you cowards.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another raged: ‘Terrible move canceling the irregulars! It was a fantastic cast and story line!’

The Irregulars is available to stream on Netflix.
