New Saturday Night Takeaway filming gets underway as Dec chains terrified Ant to a chair

Saturday Night Takeaway hosts Ant and Dec have given fans a first look at the 2021 series as Covid-19 compliant filming got underway after the Christmas break.

The pair are going to be up to their usual antics judging by the behind-the-scenes picture shared by the hosts on Monday, with Ant getting the brunt of…whatever is happening here.

In the snap posted to Twitter, Dec stares down the camera with a mysterious look on his face while in the background his co-host, recently engaged to girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett, is shackled to a chair by his wrists and ankles, pretending to scream.

They added the caption: ‘What the hell’s going on here? We’re back at work that’s what!

‘Bit of Covid-compliant @itvtakeaway filming… Who’s excited for the new series?’

Ant and Dec usually pull off some mischievous stunts on the series as they give ordinary members of the public the chance to win prizes live on air.

What the chair is for is anyone’s guess, but we wouldn’t want to be in Ant’s shoes.

Could it be part of Ant vs Dec with the chair being part of a punishment? Or maybe it’s a prop from another of their in-show comedy mini-series like Who Shot Simon Cowell? or Men In Brown.

A start date is has not been revealed but it usually airs on ITV in the Spring.

Last year their plans to broadcast the series finale from Florida were scrapped due to the pandemic, with the presenters hosting the episode from their homes instead.

Together they ran through their favourite moments from the series over the past few years, including when they pranked James Corden as he hosted The Late Late Show from the US in 2016.

Ant and Dec were last on our screens for the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! which was relocated from Australia to Wales.
