As millions watched in wonder as the eclipse dropped portions of the world into total darkness, one guy took advantage of the occasion to stage a once-in-a-lifetime prank.
The complete solar eclipse on Tuesday was covered by broadcasters all across the world, but coverage from one news channel in Mexico has since taken off due to an epic on-air gaffe.
That blunder: unintentionally showing a video of testicles instead of the eclipse.
On Tuesday, RCG Media aired a piece about the eclipse and invited viewers to bring in their own photographs and videos of the phenomena.
And it appears that the viewer films were not adequately reviewed, since one showed the sun going to set — before a pair of extremely close-up, hairy testicles began falling on the screen to hide the light.
Before the next video begins, three RCG anchors can be seen discussing the eclipse and watching stunning footage sent by a fan in Arizona.
The anchor continues to speak as the testicles fall, and while one of the female anchors gasps, the other two take a minute to grasp what is happening.
She gasps again and puts her hands on the desk while the male anchor continues to speak — and then things resume professionally.
Once the testicles have been eliminated off the screen.
While the RCG production crew must have been scrambling and horrified at the moment, it appears they now see the humorous side of things, since the official news station published the video on their own social media accounts.
They wrote, in a post translated from Spanish: ‘How did you see the #eclipse? Ours was….’ and they then shared two egg emojis, which placed together vaguely look like — well, you can guess.
The video has made its way across social media, and X users have been on the ball with puns and jokes — like user Western Lensman, who wrote ‘A testicular eclipse is not something I had on my Tuesday bingo card.’
User Jim went all in as he said it was ‘ballsy of them to air that, it’s just nuts.’
Kevin M Nelson joked ‘somebody really dropped the ball on this one,’ and while some were disturbed, others apologised for ‘finding this hilarious’.
The uncensored clip is available to watch on the official RCG Media X account — if you dare.
