Noel Fielding will not be appearing in the hotly-anticipated Great British Bake Off Christmas special.
Instead, Extra Slice presenter Tom Allen will be temporarily standing in for him and will host alongside Matt Lucas, who joined the Channel 4 culinary contest this year.
After crowing Peter Sawkins the champion of the 2020 series on Tuesday, resident judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be returning to the tent to crown another baker a winner.
A Great British Bake Off spokesperson told Metro.co.uk that Noel was unable to film the episode as he was on paternity leave.
This year’s special will see former contestants James Hillery from the 2017 series, Ruby Bhogal, from the 2018 series, and Rosie Brandreth-Poynter and Jamie Finn from the 2019 series go head to head for the Christmas Star Baker title.
And as an extra festive treat, Alexandra Burke will be stopping by to give a special performance of Silent Night.
The bakers look delighted to be back in the tent as they beam for the cameras in the first glimpse of the episode.
‘Super excited to share I will be on the Christmas bake off this festive season with the lovely Rosie, Ruby and Jamie,’ James enthused. ‘We had a blast back in the tent baking festive goodies.’
Meanwhile, Rosie exclaimed: ‘Way too excited for this.’
That’s not all though.
Great British Bake Off will be returning with another special in the New Year.
Helena Garcia and Henry Bird from the 2019 series and winners Nancy Birtwhistle Rahul Mandal will return to the tent for another battle.
It’s not yet been confirmed when these specials will be airing.
Great British Bake Off is available to stream on catch-up.
