Paddy McGuinness was all of us while raging over a recent episode of Pointless, unleashing his frustration over the contestants when they didn’t do what he wanted in the most relatable way possible.
On BBC One quiz show Pointless, the aim of the game is for players to pick the most obscure answers for general knowledge questions.
Answers are dubbed ‘pointless’ if they were not chosen by any of a panel of 100 anonymous participants.
Paddy, who recently became the new host of the revamped Question of Sport, was watching an episode of the show hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman when the contestants were given the choice of four categories: Parisian geography, national anthems, classic Hollywood film directors or international football scorers in 2019.
Keen to play along with the game, Paddy was hoping they’d pick one of the two categories he would have some knowledge of, sharing a clip of the episode on Instagram.
With his two subjects in mind, he kept repeating them over and over in the background, before the players came to their decision.
‘Hollywood films. International football scorers. It’s got to be! Go on, let’s have it. I can join in,’ he exclaimed.
But alas, Paddy was left disappointed when the two-person team decided to go with ‘Parisian geography’ instead. What were they thinking?!
‘Parisian geography?! Fuuu…’ he yelled, as his voice trailed off at the end of the clip.
In the caption for his Instagram video, Paddy continued to rant, dramatically saying that his ‘tea time quiz’ was ‘ruined’.
Several of his followers were similarly annoyed, with one commenting: ‘Thought exactly the same thing !! Fs Parisian geography.’
‘Watching this too and I thought wtf!!’ another said with a cry-laughing emoji.
We feel your pain Paddy!
In September, the new iteration of Question of Sport launched on BBC One, with Paddy replacing Sue Barker as the face of the programme alongside team captains Sam Quek and Ugo Monye.
The line-up has divided fans, with some calling for Sue to return, who began her tenure in 1997.
Paddy recently came to the defence of the revamped show from Jeremy Clarkson, after The Grand Tour star tweeted: ‘What on earth has happened to Question of Sport?’
‘The same thing that’s happened to Top Gear JC. New personnel, bigger ratings. Love you,’ Paddy responded, having joined Top Gear after Jeremy’s exit.
Pointless next airs today at 5.15pm on BBC One.
