Pam & Tommy: Sebastian Stan actually watched infamous sex tape as ‘research’ ahead of Tommy Lee role

Pam & Tommy star Sebastian Stan admitted during an appearance on Tuesday’s This Moring he watched Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s sex tape to help with ‘research’ for the series.

The highly anticipated drama premieres on Disney Plus in the UK on Wednesday, and follows Pamela and her ex-husband Tommy at the peak of their fame when they married less than a week after they met in 1995.

The series explores the theft and circulation of the sex tape they made during their honeymoon, which was stolen from their home.

It was then put out online before the pair sued the distributor of the tape, Internet Entertainment Group.

Cinderella actress Lily, 32, appears as Pamela, while The Falcon and Winter Soldier actor Sebastian, 39 transforms into Tommy in the upcoming biographical drama.

Chatting to Josie Gibson on This Morning ahead of the series release, Sebastian revealed what lengths he went to in order to prepare for the role.

When the Bristolian presenter asked the lead actors if they’d watched the tape themselves, Sebastian seemed to confirm he had.

‘Well, it was research,’ he replied.

‘I think the job as an actor is to find as much as you can possibly find on the people you’re playing.

‘But certainly not when it came out… I think I was 12 in 1995,’ he added.

The first three episodes of the biographical eight-parter will be released this week for viewers to get stuck into.

Pamela, 53, and Tommy, 58 – who divorced in 1998 and share two kids – are not involved in the project.

They’ve also had pretty different reactions to the story coming to screen.

The rocker is reportedly more excited than his ex to see the scandal come to the small screen, with a pal sharing that he is ‘stoked’ by the ‘cool story.’

But it doesn’t seem as though Pamela will be sitting down to watch, with her family said to have described it as a ‘cheap knock-off’.

‘She had no involvement whatsoever,’ a source close to her told Us Weekly.

Pam & Tommy lands on Hulu on February 2 and will be available to watch on Disney Plus for UK viewers.
