Biographical drama Pam & Tommy finally made its long-awaited debut on Disney Plus on Wednesday, however, there was one particular scene that left viewers a little alarmed.
The raunchy series, which stars Lily James as Pamela Anderson and Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee, focuses on the Baywatch star and the Mötley Crüe rocker’s whirlwind romance as well as the aftermath of their sex tape being stolen and sold on the internet.
In episode two, titled I Love You Tommy, Sebastian is having a heart-to-heart with his, ahem, animatronic member, which is narrated by Brooklyn 99 star Jason Mantzoukas, over his intense feelings for Pamela.
Yes, that’s right – a talking penis.
‘I’m in love I think she’s the one,’ Tommy says before looking down.
‘Well we’ve been down this road before and it never ends well,’ his genitals reply, because of course.
The Falcon and Winter Soldier star’s name began trending on Twitter as viewers quickly shared their thoughts over the unique telly moment.
One surprised fan tweeted: ‘What. There’s a conversation in episode two of #PamAndTommy that everyone will be talking about. I can honestly say there has never been a scene like it in the history of anything. What.’
Another appreciated the comedy element, saying: ‘#PamAndTommy is winning the Emmy for Outstanding Penis in a Limited Series I fear.’
The scene involved four puppeteers working with the piece, which director Craig Gillespie admitted was at times ‘awkward’. You don’t say…
But Sebastian told the publication: ‘By the end of it, I treated it like it was an intimate buddy conversation that one might have when they’re falling in love.’
The real-life Pamela, 53, and Tommy, 58 – who divorced in 1998 and share two kids – are not involved in the project, but both shared different opinions over the controversial biopic on their lives.
The heavy metal enthusiast was more excited than his ex to see the scandal come to the small screen, with a pal sharing that he is ‘stoked’ by the ‘cool story.’
But Pamela on the other hand wasn’t as thrilled, as her family said to have described it as a ‘cheap knock-off’.
‘She had no involvement whatsoever,’ a source close to her told Us Weekly.
Pam & Tommy is available on Disney+ now.
