Paul Gascoigne perked up breakfast TV viewers this morning with stories of his wild stint on the Italian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here while also accidentally swearing.
The former England footballer recently appeared on the Italian reality series Isola dei Famosi (Island of the Famous) and it was certainly an adventure, with Gazza dislocating his shoulder, almost falling out of a helicopter and sunbathing naked before quitting the programme.
While recounting his experience on Good Morning Britain, Gazza told Susanna Reid and Adil Ray: ‘I remember when I spoke to them about doing the show with Katie my manager and they said 10 weeks on an island, I thought fantastic.
‘When I got in I had to sign a contract that said no cigarettes, no caffeine, nothing.’
Gazza then went on to detail the painful injury he suffered when he dislocated his shoulder, prompting him to let an expletive slip out.
‘Before I went on the show I went to a swimming pool, did a breast stroke and my shoulder popped out so I put it back in myself and didn’t say anything. Then the next thing it popped out doing some workout I was doing, I put it back in,’ he revealed.
‘There was this challenge and I said to Rando, do this challenge. He said “eff” off. I looked behind him and it was Valentina with her face and she went, “I’m starving, do it”.’

Dropping an expletive, he continued: ‘So I did the first bit, I felt my shoulder [come out] so I went, “Oh s**t”. Just put the bolt in and it’ll be OK. The good thing was I’ve had loads of operations so I knew when I get to the hospital, I’m going to get some food here, some coffee and cigarettes. I’m more than happy.’
Presenter Adil was then forced to issue an apology for Gazza’s foul language and said: ‘Before we carry on Gazza, I’m gonna apologise on your behalf. A bit of foul language we heard there, I know it was purely accidental on your part.’
The retired sports star cheekily replied: ‘Oh, that’s nothing!’
Gazza then went on to address the eye-catching photos of him sunbathing completely naked on an Italian beach and joked he did it ‘for publicity’.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
