People watching the ITV game show The 1% Club believe that the last question in last night’s episode was one of the simplest ever.
Let’s see what you think.
During Saturday night’s programme, host Lee Mack revealed that there was a £94,000 prize to play for at the end, with just six participants remaining in the game.
All of the players chose to continue, which meant that if they answered the final question correctly (the 1% question), they would share the reward money evenly.
The question then went as follows: ‘Starting on 25, the middle square, SEEN takes you to square 27. From there, NEW takes you to 20. From there, which square does SEWN take you to?’
A grid of numbers ranging from 1 to 49 appeared alongside the question.
After the participants had the opportunity to work out and submit their solutions, the results were disclosed, with only one individual getting it incorrect.
Have you figured out how to solve the puzzle?
For those of you expert quiz-lovers, you may have guessed that the letters S, E, N, and W were the compass directions South, East, North, and West, respectively.
So, starting at square 25 and following SEEN’s directions would take you only two squares to the right after moving down, right, right, and up.
Using the term SEWN with the number 20 would result in a recursive loop of travelling down, right, left, and up.
While you may have patted yourself on the back for figuring it out, other viewers of The 1% Club thought the question far too simple, especially given that it was the final question of the programme and therefore intended to be challenging.
‘I got the 1% question right!! 😃😁 I think that was one of the easiest 1% ques they’ve had,’ Annie wrote on X.
‘That was a very easy 1% question.’ wrote an account with the handle @hare__today, while Chelle agreed: ‘I got the 1%! Thought it was an easy one tonight. Never seen so many people get into the final & win.’
First time I got the 1% question. I did however get 2 wrong leading up to it tho. Yay me 😊#The1PercentClub

Matt quipped: ‘Wot, that was the jackpot question? That was easy, give me £18,000 😄.’
Easy or not, the people who correctly identified the question on the ITV show each received £18,800 of the jackpot, with one person missing out. So, congrats to the winners!
