Peter Andre admits ‘fear’ over son Junior’s music career as teen signs first record deal

Peter Andre has admitted he’s ‘a little bit scared’ about son Junior launching a music career but his supporting him all the way.

It was announced in August that Junior, 16, had signed his first record deal with Columbia Records, in hopes of following his dad’s footsteps into the music business.

Mysterious Girl singer Peter couldn’t be happier for his eldest son but admits there’s a level of cautiousness about watching his child get to work.

Speaking to Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard on Good Morning Britain, Peter explained: ‘It’s a mixture of I‘m proud and I’m excited and I see how hard he works and he practices everyday just how I used to do when I was a kid, but there’s also a fear to it.

‘There’s this fear of getting thrown into this lifestyle which, I know he’s part of in some kind of way but that’s also why I didn’t let him sign anything before 16 because he has to be at an age where he can go to a schedule, whereas before it was just he’d appear on something on the day he wasn’t at school.’

He added: ‘This is a way of life and it’s going to be a lot of work for him and he’s so excited. I’m proud but I’m also a little bit scared as I guess anyone would be.’

Peter, 48, explained that he’s ‘strict’ on Junior to ‘be humble and respectful and to always be polite’ and hopes the youngster’s privilege of having famous wealthy parents doesn’t give him an ego.

The singer stated: ‘I think – I hope – he’s going to do really well,’ and revealed that Junior should be debuting his first song in May.

Last summer, Junior proudly announced he had signed to Columbia Records and said in a statement: ‘Signing my first ever record deal is a dream come true.

‘I would like to thank everyone who helped me get here, especially the team at Columbia and Rebel Records and all the people who worked with me on this project.

‘I can’t wait to share my music with the world.’

Peter shares Junior and daughter Princess with ex-wife Katie Price, while he’s also father to son Theodore and daughter Amelia with wife Dr Emily MacDonagh.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
