Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are apparently planning a ‘awkward’ run-in with each other while on vacation in Portugal.
The former This Morning co-hosts used to love soaking in the sun on a family vacation, but when Schofield stepped down from the show and all of his ITV commitments, it is assumed that this is no longer the case.
When he revealed his ‘unwise but not illegal’ romance with a considerably younger staffer, the 61-year-old resigned from the show after more than 20 years before abandoning all his ITV ventures.
His shocking admission came following allegations that Holly, 42, and her then-co-presenter, with whom she had been seeing since 2009, were ‘barely communicating’ and that their relationship had deteriorated behind the scenes.
Holly later acknowledged to being’shaken, troubled, let down, and full of questions,’ and she has now left This Morning for a summer vacation, after which she is scheduled to return.
A source has now revealed the pair are risking an ‘awkward’ run-in, as Holly is on holidaying in Portugal with her husband Dan Baldwin and their three children, and Schofield is also said to be planning a trip to his family home in Portugal – which he has no plans to sell, according to MailOnline.
The insider told the publication: ‘Phil loves his time on the Algarve and will be going back there very soon which obviously means there is a very big chance that he will run into Holly.
‘It is very sad, they enjoyed some really happy and fun times there together but why shouldn’t he go back?
‘They both own their homes and neither will be backing down. Can you just imagine how awkward it will be though?
‘Phillip is desperately sorry for hurting Holly and essentially ending their friendship, he has apologised to her but equally it is hard for her to forgive it all.’
According to The Sun, Holly was sighted earlier this year in Portugal near her £8 million property, when she was seen for the first time since Schofield’s confession.

Schofield apologised to his former Dancing On Ice co-host in his first public remark about the controversy.
He said: ‘I’ve lost my best friend. I let her down (Holly). I let that entire show down. I let the viewers down.
‘Holly did not know (about the romance). And she was one of the first texts that I sent, to say, “I am so, so sorry that I lied to you,”’ he added to The Sun.
