Piers Morgan has topped a poll of most-fancied TV newsreaders, and he’s not about to let it go without making sure his opponents know about it too.
The Good Morning Britain host, 55, was up against Eamonn Holmes, Dan Walker, Tom Bradby and Clive Myrie for the title in the reader’s poll from The Sun, and topped the chart with 42.9% of the vote.
Next up was Tom with 25%, Eamonn and Dan tied in third place with 14.3% of the votes each and Clive finished the top five with just 3.6% of the vote.
Piers took to Twitter to joke: ‘In time honoured awards fashion, I’d like to pay tribute to all those I beat… chin up, chaps’.
He then stuck the boot in further by cheekily adding: ‘No shame in losing to a news Adonis.’
Reality star Nicola McLean was one of the people who gave Piers her vote, explaining: ‘I love his attitude and the fact he is full of arrogance.
‘There is just something about a man in a suit who just doesn’t give a damn. He probably has all the money in the world but he continues to get up early every morning to basically ask people questions and then not let them answer.’
In the female list, Susanna Reid topped the poll with 62.9% of votes, ahead of Mary Nightingale on 14.3%, Kate Silverton on 11.4%, Naga Munchetty with 5.7% and Kat Burley and Nina Hossain in joint fifth place with 2.9% each.
Aside from being voted the most-fancied newsreader, Piers has recently made headlines after having Gemma Collins on his show, Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
The Towie star, 40, later claimed she had lied about having a £1million sex tape in the archives – but the broadcaster now thinks it might be a double bluff.
He tweeted: ‘Hmmm. How do we know she’s not now lying about lying?’
