Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid have led tributes to Andrea McLean during her final day on Loose Women, which saw the presenter weep as she bid the show farewell.
After 13 years on Loose Women – becoming the longest-serving panellist on the ITV programme – Andrea is stepping down from the panel.
Andrea, 51, announced her decision to leave the series last month, saying that she wanted to start a business that would ‘help women’ and stating: ‘I want to be brave. It was a really big decision to jump and see if I fall or fly.’
On Wednesday’s show, Coleen Nolan took over hosting duties from Andrea, who was showered with praise and messages of support from her fellow panellists and other familiar faces.
One of the first tributes came from Good Morning Britain presenters Piers and Susanna, who hailed her as a ‘legend’.
‘Andrea. All the best as you leave the other Loose Women as you concentrate on the fantastic work you’re doing, providing mental health support for women,’ Susanna said in the pre-recorded message.
‘Yes, after an amazing 13 years as a Loose Legend – I’ve been a loose legend much longer than that,’ Piers added.
‘Two decades on daytime telly. You’ll be hugely missed Andrea, you’ve had an amazing run here. And good for you, breaking out, for freedom. Good luck to you, for all of us from Good Morning Britain.’
Lorraine Kelly also paid homage to Andrea, saying in a video message: ‘We have known each other for decades, ever since you were a weather broadcaster on GMTV all those years ago.
‘You’ve shared your highs and your lows with the nation and you’ve made us laugh and you’ve made us cry.’
Loose Women panellist Linda Robson tuned in over video chat to tell Andrea that she loves her ‘with all my heart’, saying that they’ll have a ‘big celebration party’ when they can.
Coleen told Andrea that she ‘can’t imagine’ Loose Women without her.
‘You’re the constant chair in my life that I can rely on. Whatever showbiz people say, we will be friends forever,’ she said.
After watching a compilation of moments on Loose Women over the years, Andrea began crying.
‘Ok you did it!’ she said, as she wiped her tears away with a tissue.
To finish off the show, Brenda Edwards sang a rendition of My Girl by the Temptations, leaving Andrea at a loss for words.
‘Can I just say, being on Loose Women is like a real-life soap opera. It really is. There’s highs, there’s lows, there’s drama, there’s everything else,’ she said.
‘Oh ladies. That’s it from me. Bye bye.’
