Piers Morgan is definitely in a celebratory mood on today’s Good Morning Britain – and took a member to mark his daughter’s birthday.
Elise, the GMB host’s daughter with Celia Walden, turns nine today, and while she couldn’t celebrate properly due to lockdown, he made sure his little girl was commemorated live on air.
As Piers himself was marking the fifth anniversary of his debut on the ITV morning show with Susanna, he halted proceedings to celebrate another of the main women in his life.
He told the cameras: ‘I just want to say a very happy ninth birthday to my little girl, Elise. Nine years old today. She had a massive socially distanced party yesterday, for one person.
‘We had a nice time, but she couldn’t have a party obviously. She was not happy about that, but she will be going to school.
‘Elise, I know you’re watching. Happy birthday, and we will celebrate later, and I hope you have a lovely day.’
Proving to be a chip off the old block with her dad, Piers then joked that Elise wanted the whole episode to be dedicated to her.
‘She wasn’t happy that we were intending to have lavish celebrations on air for our anniversary, for someone who she pointed out, is not even my real wife!,’ he told Susanna.
Stars including Gary Barlow, Kevin Clifton, and Vinnie Jones were among the friends of the show that sent Piers and Susanna their well-wishes to celebrate the landmark anniversary of the presenting duo.
Mostly, they were celebrating Susanna managing to endure the opinionated Piers for so long!
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
