Piers Morgan weighs in on campaign launched to make him Prime Minister: ‘I couldn’t be worse than Johnson!’

As if 2021 couldn’t get any weirder, Piers Morgan has teased he may be up for becoming Prime Minister after his government grillings on Good Morning Britain.

A number of campaigns have been launched to put the journalist and presenter into a position of power after a string of interviews with MPs who refuse to answer his line of questioning.

This included Thérèse Coffey turning off her camera on Monday’s show, and Matt Hancock going viral after being left in a loop as he refused to respond to Piers calling him out for not supporting free school meals for underprivileged children.

After getting wind of the new campaign to make him PM so the UK could finally get some ‘honest and blunt answers’, Piers couldn’t resist feeling a little smug about it, and then admitted ‘he couldn’t do any worse’.

‘It has got a ring to it, and could I do any worse is the real question,’ he added.

‘That’s the real calculation for the British people as they wake up this morning to this huge campaign. Could I do any worse?’

Susanna was quick to shut him down though, and said: ‘It’s not Good Morgan Britain yet!’

However, Piers appeared to be on a roll, and enjoyed the idea of his newfound potential career move – but added that above it the main reason people were interested in watching his efforts was because the government are failing to be transparent.

‘There’s a point to that, which is when we do go quite hard on these ministers, it’s interesting who shines under the pressure,’ Piers added.

‘… And who does what Thérèse Coffey did yesterday, where she just gave up.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
