Ranvir Singh has confessed she was left ‘broken’ after just one day of rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing’s launch show.

Strictly returned on Saturday night with its first show of the series that saw its celebrity contestants paired up with their professional partners.

It was revealed Ranvir will be dancing with Giovanni Pernice this series and the pairings made their dancefloor debut, as they performed a group dance together.

But, rehearsals for that one dance sound like they were pretty intense, with Ranvir confessing just one day of rehearsals had been a shock to the system.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Monday, Ranvir told her co-host Kate Garraway: ‘We did one full day of training to learn this routine… sat at home you think that’s a nice jolly dance, but oh my goodness, I was broken after that first day. Totally broken.’

Saturday’s launch show was pre-recorded, with Ranvir admitting she would have preferred it to have been broadcasted live.

‘I sort of wish that Saturday had been a live show… the first live show is quite a thing,’ she said.

Ranvir also joked that she’s now ‘ruthlessly changed’ her WhatsApp profile picture from a photo of her son and dog to one of her and dance partner Giovanni.

Although she warned that Giovanni has been putting her through her paces in rehearsal, as she told Kate: ‘Don’t be fooled by his angelic face.’

Strictly has returned with a limited run this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, with new safety measures and social distancing restrictions in place in order for filming to go ahead.

The live shows are set to start as of next weekend on Saturday October 24 and will continue until December 19.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
