Heather Dubrow has caused a huge stir since her return to the Real Housewives of Orange County cast for season 16, which has rubbed some of her co-stars, and viewers watching from home, the wrong way.
Within the very first few episodes, the RHOC housewife reignited a feud with pal Shannon Beador after the latter shared her confusion regarding newcomer Nicole James to castmates Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter, which occurred off camera.
It later emerged that the newbie had previously filed a lawsuit against Heather’s husband Terry Dubrow over a medical procedure years ago, before later striking up a friendship with the actress, but had failed to mention their legal history beforehand.
While Heather squashed the drama with Nicole and Gina, who quickly let the cat out of the bag, she took aim at Shannon for bringing it up in the first place, leading to a frosty showdown in a recent episode.
Sitting her down, the Hot In Cleveland star warned: ‘If you ever come after me or my family ever again, you’re going to lose a lot more than just my friendship. This will cost a lot. And I’m not saying this as a threat, I’m saying it as a promise.’
Unpacking the scenes in a chat with Metro.co.uk, Shannon confessed that she was tempted to laugh in her co-star’s face over her comments, and suggested that it was a ‘scripted’ speech.
Describing the scenes as ‘unbelievable’, she told us: ‘It was one thing sitting there, because there was a part of me that wanted to just start laughing when she was saying it.
‘The bottom line is I feel horrible. I never thought that Nicole would be the same Nicole that I had met years ago. That being said, I never wanted the information to get out there. Who dredges up 20-year-old news? That’s not who I am.
‘But I didn’t threaten Heather’s family. When she read her – what I consider to be scripted – threats to me, I wanted to say, “What? Are you going to kill me? Are you going to try and take away my company that I built to support my daughters? Because that’s you threatening my family.”’
When asked how she didn’t laugh in the moment, she continued: ‘If you look closely, you can see there’s a bit of a smile on my face because I was just like, “This is not happening!”
‘But then I wanted to move forward, I wanted to try and get to a better place with her, so I didn’t say much.
‘I’ve heard through the grapevine that some of my cast members are surprised, because I didn’t tell anybody what happened. I mentioned it to Noella but I didn’t go into detail. So they were watching it for the first time and I think they were a little bit surprised as well. It’s a bit much.’
Shannon also insisted that she does take responsibility for ‘speculating’ with Gina and Emily because she couldn’t fathom how Nicole and Heather were such good friends.
She admitted that it was her ‘mistake’ to speak to them about it first, but vowed that Gina also needs to own up to her part in the drama.
Tensions flared between the two in the mid-season trailer, which dropped earlier this week and showed them coming to blows.
However, she explained that she was left most surprised by seeing Heather talking behind her back when they had moved past their spat.
‘I have to tell you, I’m a little shocked watching the midseason trailer, because I thought that Heather and I were making amends and we had a lot of fun together,’ she added. ‘I know what I filmed, so watching it, it’s difficult because then you see what everyone’s saying behind your back.
‘I’m a little bit surprised to see that Heather’s saying, “Well, I don’t know that I trust her.” Oh, okay! We’re at a good spot now but you just said that behind my back?
‘So I don’t know. The reunion is going to be very interesting, I’ll just leave it there.’
Bring on that reunion…
