Richard Madeley compares Anne-Marie’s iconic Brits stumble to wife Judy Finnigan’s infamous NTAs mishap: ‘At least she didn’t show her bra’

Richard Madeley couldn’t resist bringing up an historic wardrobe malfunction suffered by Judy Finnigan as he discussed Anne Marie’s tumble at the Brits on Wednesday’s GMB.

Anne Marie performed her single Don’t Play, with KSI and Digital Farm Animals at Tuesday night’s Brits, but it didn’t all go quite to plan.

She tripped up early on, which left fans worried for her poor ankle – but she luckily recovered her footing like a queen.

After becoming the most talked about moment of the night, GMB host Richard soon brought it up with co-star Susanna Reid the following morning.

He quickly compared it to an embarrassing moment his wife Judy suffered at the NTAs back in 2001.

When the pair went up to accept an award at the live TV event, Judy’s top opened up, revealing her white bra.

Addressing the moment from Anne Marie, Richard chimed in: ‘At least she didn’t show her bra.’

Susanna asked her co-star to explain ‘for the younger viewers’ with Richard sharing: ‘Before we went to the awards, Judy said “I haven’t brought my matching bra. Oh well, no one is going to know.”

‘We won the award and went on stage but the clasp on her top popped open’

Susanna asked Richard: ‘Do you think Judy is going to mind you bringing this back up on national television?’

‘She’s written about it loads of times. She’s over it now,’ he replied, before adding: ‘John Leslie came running up and closed her dress up.’

Speaking about the incident in the past, Judy shared: ‘I was wearing a halterneck evening dress and had a brand new matching black bra but it didn’t fit properly so I swapped it for a trusty old favourite, a lacy pale pink.

‘“Noone will ever know” I said to Richard, as we changed in our hotel room.

‘They soon did of course. The black halterneck slid down to my waist, revealing my pink undies to the nation.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
