Richard Madeley shocks I’m A Celebrity fans after repeatedly swearing during Bushtucker Trial: ‘Wasn’t ready for this’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Richard Madeley left fans shocked after revealing his potty mouth during the first Bushtucker Trial of the new series.

Richard didn’t enter the grounds of the castle until late on into last night’s series launch show, arriving alongside Loose Women panellist Frankie Bridge.

What the pair didn’t know was they were about to take part in the first hellish trial of the year, just moments after they arrived.

Richard went head-to-head with Frankie during the task named The Turrets of Terror, where the campmates raced to reach the top of a structure and grab a key to the castle.

But with the pressure of the challenge soon getting to both stars, it was Richard who surprised fans after repeatedly swearing during his attempt to win.

As he struggled to unlock the first gate in order to progress up the tower, he exclaimed: ‘S***, s***, s***!’

Later on, after failing to win the task, he was back at it again, telling his campmates if they get ‘up for a p*** in the night’ they need to add another log to the campfire.

Fans were surprised to hear the morning TV presenter full of expletives, taking to Twitter to express their shock at his language.

One fan shared: ‘Richard saying p*** and s*** has me giggling like a child. I was not ready for this!’

‘Hearing Richard Madeley swear is so strange to me #ImACeleb,’ said another, with a viewer commenting: ‘Did Richard Madeley just say p***?! ImACeleb #ImACelebrity.’

Another fan agreed: ‘Richard Madeley screaming s*** s*** s*** PLSSS #ImACeleb.’

The star also couldn’t help but cause a stir when he suggested he and his fellow campmates at the Castle Clink would be set to ‘bend the rules’ after being banished to sleeping outdoors.

It came after fellow contestant Naughty Boy smuggled in a blend of spices in his sock to try and add some flavour to the bland offering of rice and beans.

But it was swiftly taken off him upon entering the camp, with Richard telling him: ‘It was really good of you to think of us like that.’

Speaking to the camera in private, the Good Morning Britain presenter added: ‘Well Naughty Boy had really lived up to his name. He smuggled in something for camp.

‘I think that’s a real mark of character actually. And we’ve got to bend the rules a bit here and I can promise you, having spoken to everybody here, this is not going to be the last time that the rules are bent.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
