While season 5 of Rick and Morty is so nearly upon us one of the cartoon’s producers has confirmed a movie is in the pipeline.
Fans have been patiently waiting for the return of the trippy comedy, which will drop in the US later this month – slightly sooner that arriving on E4 in the UK – with all the episode titles already being revealed.
Producer Scott Marder, writer Dan Harmon and Spencer Grammer – aka the voice of Summer – have now suggested Rick and Morty will eventually make it to the big screen.
‘It’d be daunting, I wouldn’t be shocked if there was one that comes down the pipe one day,’ said Scott.
‘I feel like every episode is a movie. I’d like to see what a movie would be, I feel like we pack so much in.
‘It’d have to be pretty epic.’
Spencer explained: ‘It’d have to be something so big – like a 3D interactive movie that also has a theme park. I don’t know if you could just do a straight movie.
‘There are those 4D movie theatres in New York City.’
‘I think it will happen,’ said Scott. ‘I do think it will happen.’
Creator Justin Roiland confirmed that while no plans have been set in stone just yet, talk of a Rick and Morty movie is a case of ‘when’ not ‘if’.
Back in 2018, Adult Swim commissioned another 70 episodes, taking Rick and Morty to seven seasons.
Co-creator Dan Harmon revealed season seven is currently in the works before season six has even made it to air yet.
Rick and Morty is available to stream on Netflix and airs on E4 in the UK.
