Rowan Atkinson has admitted he doesn’t ‘much enjoy’ playing Mr. Bean – but he’s set to reprise the role for a new movie.
The 65-year-old star – who originally created the iconic titular character for his beloved sitcom – is poised to don the famous suit and tie for another big screen appearance after the success of the animated spin-off’s third series in 2019, but he hopes his time in the role is nearing its end.
Speaking to Radio Times, he said: ‘Having made an animated TV series, we’re now in the foothills of developing an animated movie for Mr Bean – it’s easier for me to perform the character vocally than visually.
‘I don’t much enjoy playing him. The weight of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and exhausting, and I look forward to the end of it.’
However, it’s nothing personal – Rowan admitted he doesn’t really like ‘making anything’, although there is one exception there.
