‘Rumbled’: Natalie Imbruglia’s two-year-old son nearly exposed The Masked Singer secret

Natalie Imbruglia has admitted her two-year-old son nearly spoiled her big Masked Singer UK moment before Saturday’s grand final.

The Torn singer was unveiled as Panda over the weekend as judges Rita OraMo GilliganJonathan RossDavina McCall – plus host Joel Dommett – were amazed to see her behind the elaborate costume.

Not everyone was quite so shocked though, as Natalie admitted she actually told her son Max about her appearance on the show because she was sure he wouldn’t be able to say anything to ruin the surprise.

Appearing on Monday’s This Morning, she said: ‘I thought I’d be safe to tell my two year old son, he can’t really speak yet. So I was showing him little clips ’cause he loves pandas.

‘So then we were at the airport coming home from Australia and this little girl had a wheel bag with Panda on the back of it, and he just runs up and goes, “Mummy! Mummy!” Rumbled!’

The 47-year-old star revealed he son – and his love for pandas – was her inspiration behind signing up for the hit ITV show.

‘I actually did it for my son. I just thought, how fun to do this for him? Because he loves pandas,’ she added. ‘And I actually decided to be Panda. They had some other great ideas and I said, “Can I please be Panda?” ‘

While the show was a great opportunity to ‘play and goof around’, Natalie admitted she was ‘so nervous’ she has no memory of her first couple of performances.

‘It’s a chance for us to play and goof around, but then you get there and you’ve got this mask on and you can’t breath,’ she explained.

‘This is a whole other – I was so nervous, I don’t remember the first two performances! Which sounds crazy because I’m just being a panda, but it’s still a performance, you’re still a performer and you want to do a good job.’

The judges didn’t guess Natalie was Panda, with Rita comparing her voice to Jennifer Hudson.

‘I’ll take that! I don’t think I sound anywhere near as good as Jennifer Hudson, but I’ll take that,’ she laughed. ‘The biggest compliment was when Mo said there must be a comedian, they’re really funny! No one’e said I’m funny!’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
