RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 3: Vanity Milan saw husband cry for first time after he watched goddess runway that he created

Warning: spoilers ahead for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 3 episode 9.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 3 star Vanity Milan has opened up about how emotional it was for her to watch the latest episode with her husband, who broke down in tears after seeing the queen in the goddess look he created.

During last night’s semi-final of the competition, Vanity became the latest queen to be told to ‘sashay away’ by RuPaul following her lip sync against Krystal Versace.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk after the scenes aired, Vanity explained how much it meant for her to leave the show wearing an absolutely drop dead gorgeous ensemble created by her hubby, who created a huge amount of her looks for the programme.

The queen revealed that before last night, she had never seen her husband cry before, describing him as a ‘very strong person’.

‘I think yesterday was a very emotional day for the both of us,’ she said. ‘He’s done me so proud, because we never thought we’d get this far and we got to show all the looks that he created and other people created as well.

‘He responded so well, it was an emotional day yesterday and if I was going to leave on a look, it would be that one – and I looked unreal to say the least.’

Vanity outlined how they were at a viewing party watching the episode when she spotted her husband ‘in the back just crying his eyes out’.

‘I just looked over and I’m there crying. It was an emotional day yesterday, and it was so good just to see him, you know, be a little bit emotional and tap into his emotional side and actually be like, it was a really good look that he created, which was really nice,’ she said.

One of Vanity’s most memorable moments on Drag Race UK – and one of the best moments on Drag Race period, in our opinion – was when she delivered an iconic lip sync to Scandalous by Mis-Teeq in front of Alesha Dixon, who was a member of the band.

Fans absolutely loved watching Alesha dancing and singing along as Vanity slayed on the main stage, with the queen sharing that she later exchanged DMs with the Britain’s Got Talent judge and her former bandmate, Sabrina Washington.

Vanity said that the fans’ response to the performance was ‘amazing’, explaining that deuring the performance she was ‘living her fantasy’ and ‘going back and forth’ with Alesha.

‘I sent her a message, she responded. It was an amazing, amazing message, and then I got Sabrina from Mis-Teeq as well, she messaged me,’ Vanity said.

‘And she said that I did what needed to be done, so just to get the verification from those two people was the highlight for me and I’m going to cherish that lip sync.’

Vanity added that she personally loves to watch old lip sync performances back from Drag Race – and is now going to do the same with her own performance.

‘I’m the type of person that likes to go back and watch lip syncs and I have to go back and watch myself now because that was a really good lip sync,’ she said. Facts!

Next week, Krystal Versace, Kitty Scott-Claus and Ella Vaday will battle it out to be named the UK’s Next Drag Superstar.

So who do you think will be crowned the winner of season three? Have your say!

The grand finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK airs next Thursday at 7pm on BBC Three on BBC iPlayer.
