RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s eliminated queen Joe Black reveals hilarious Liz Hurley moment cut from episode

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Joe Black has shared the hilarious Elizabeth Hurley moment that didn’t make it to air when the guest judge critiqued her catwalk glamour.

Last night, the first episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season two aired on BBC Three.

After the competitors debuted two looks on stage for the panel of judges – one inspired by a gay icon and another by their hometown – Joe Black was selected by RuPaul as the first queen to leave the competition.

While speaking to and other members of the press, Joe revealed that there was an exchange she shared with Liz that audiences didn’t get to see.

The cabaret star added that she loved the interaction so much that she would have ‘used it on posters’ had it not been cut from the episode.

‘There’s a moment when Elizabeth Hurley – you know, camp icon, loved her in Bedazzled – where she said, “Darling, on my notes I’ve written…”.’

At this point, Joe explained, Liz ‘looks down, she looks up, she looks down, she looks up’, before telling the drag queen that she had written down a single word: ‘Scary!’

‘And I say, “Yes, it’s true!”’ Joe added.

‘And I really wish that had made the cut because I was like I wanted posters in giant letters: “Scary. Elizabeth Hurley”.’

Nonetheless, Joe said that she might still pop the quote on a poster. When you’ve been judged by Liz Hurley on the Drag Race stage, why wouldn’t you?

For Joe’s gay icon look, the contestant decided to pay homage to none other than David Bowie, wearing a sparkling blue suit fishtail ensemble and an unmistakeable bright orange wig.

For her second look, she wore a regal gown and crown inspired by the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, where she is from.

After receiving harsh feedback from the judges, Joe landed in the bottom two with Bimini Bon Boulash, eventually losing the lip sync for her life.

Joe later took to social media to respond to the judges’ criticism of her gold Brighton Pavilion outfit, as they had pointed out the building is white on the outside.

Sharing a photograph of the interior of the establishment, Joe wrote: ‘Isn’t Brighton pavilion beautiful on the inside? Lovely and gold.’

Fortunately for Joe’s many fans, the drag queen has promised to share photographs of the looks she would have worn every week on Drag Race UK going forward.

‘I won’t be hiding away, I assure you,’ the performer tweeted. Thank GOODNESS!

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns next Thursday at 7pm on BBC Three via BBC iPlayer.
