RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s Joe Black was in and out of the series like a revolving door on tonight’s episode – getting eliminated for a second time.
On this week’s drama-filled episode, Veronica Green sadly had to withdraw from the competition after testing positive for coronavirus, leaving a spot open for a return.
Joe was voted in by the remaining queens to have a second chance at the crown, beating out Cherry Valentine and Asttina Mandella.
However, it wasn’t meant to be, and after standing out in all the wrong ways during the RuRuvision song challenge (thanks to a pink velour dress that made RuPaul explode with anger), she landed back in the bottom two.
Going up against Tia in a lip-sync, Joe unfortunately had to say goodbye once more – but despite what went down, she has zero regrets.
The Brighton legend said of her shock return: ‘Not at all. As I’ve said before, everything plays out like it does for a reason.
‘This was my particular journey and I can’t stand the idea of going “well what if i had just…?” you know? That would eat you up wouldn’t it?’
She’s also still a proud owner of ‘that’ pink outfit, and said: ‘‘I’d wear that H&M dress again in a heartbeat. I thought it was cute.
‘Clearly it’s an emotional piece! Very moving. I didn’t realise pink velvet could evoke such drama!’
Joe admits that she wasn’t expecting the last-minute call to return to the competition, but couldn’t resist another shot at being declared the UK’s next drag superstar.
‘I’m sort of glad I didn’t have the whole of lockdown to worry and stew over [the competition],’ they explained.
‘It came as quite the surprise to me to suddenly get that call before filming went back and to not know what was gonna happen when I walked back in that ominous pink room… while dressed as an elephant.
‘It did also kind of feel like I’d never left? It felt very “ah yes, here we are again” in a familiar way, despite the huge gap.
‘Didn’t miss the on set food though…’
Speaking about her exit, Joe joked: ‘I’ll stick to my gin martinis and seedy back alley cabaret show vibes from here on out. Much more me!’
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK airs Thursdays at 7pm on BBC iPlayer (UK) and World of Wonder (Rest of World).
